What brought you to Baltimore?
I moved to Baltimore for a job almost 11 years ago and I’ve been charmed by it ever since. From the food to the neighborhoods, the culture, the art scenes and more, there’s so much to take in here! I’ve lived across the city, from Charles Village to Canton to Federal Hill, but I’ve mostly worked downtown. I spent most of my time either at Port Discovery Children’s Museum or the National Aquarium, starting small then growing to run the PR/Social Media teams at each amazing nonprofit.

Most recently in 2017, I left my fish friends at the aquarium to start my own consulting business, Good Vibes Consulting. We work on communications, branding, social media, you name it, to help small businesses get their share in the marketing world. The adventure of entrepreneurship has been exciting and terrifying, but fun all the way!

In my spare time, I love exploring all this area has to offer. Again, the food is just great. More and more restaurants pop up every month and we can’t get enough! My husband and I love trying out all the new spots! If we can, we also bring our two rescue dogs to an outdoor space; we love a sunny, weekend brunch on the waterfront with our dogs.

What’s your connection to Baltimore?
I work as a fitness instructor at BeachFit Baltimore. I’ve been an athlete all my life but I fell into a rut after college. I found fitness and the genuine community/friendships that come with it again and that changed my life! I try to bring fun fitness to others now to try to return the favor. I love helping others thrive and grow. I know it sounds cheesy, but I truly feel most happy when I see someone enjoying life. Through fitness, I’ve found a consistent way to do this. You don’t have to go to the Olympics to enjoy fitness—it’s all about growing in your own skin and your own life. It’s truly one of the most rewarding jobs out there. I love seeing my students come into the studio again and again!

What do you like about Baltimore?
I love trying new things in the city. How could you not be excited to try new things every day?! New foods, new places, new classes, new experiences, new friends—you can definitely find whatever you’re looking for in Baltimore. Recently I read the quote, “nothing is worth more than this day,” and it’s so true. About two years ago, I was diagnosed with cancer; I had a large cancerous mass growing over my ovary and they had to get it out quick. All I wanted to do was ‘get back to normal’ once it was all over, but then when I got there, I realized it wasn’t fulfilling me. I wanted to do so much more, live so much more. Very stereotypically, this life-changing diagnosis changed my entire life; it encouraged me to double-down about trying new things and live in the moment!

I love sharing Charm City with family and friends. Baltimore is somewhat hidden between NYC/Philadelphia and DC, so sometimes we get a little lost in the bustle. But I’m fine when people underestimate the city; it just gives us more room to grow and show off all the amazing things we have here. I love taking people to our new restaurants, fun museums, street festivals, outdoor concerts, and more.

New Baltimoreans should definitely check out:
BARCS and Last Chance Animal Rescue: How can you not love pups, right? If you follow me on social media, you’ll see lots of photos of our dogs. We’re so grateful to have these four-legged friends in our lives from local rescue agencies, BARCS and Last Chance Animal Rescue.

Fells Point Main Street: I love supporting the small, locally-owned businesses in Baltimore. One of my favorite neighborhoods is Fells Point. You can walk around popping in and out of shops, restaurants, studios and more! Some of my favorite shops are Fells Point Surf, Su Casa, and Greedy Reads. Some of my favorite restaurants in the area are Barcocina and Sticky Rice. And a few classic activities in Fells include walking through the new Pendry Hotel for a pool view and, of course, classes at BeachFit! You can really do SO MUCH in this quaint, beautiful neighborhood
